TMB Review: Bike Yoke Revive 3.0 Dropper Post

The German brand Bike Yoke was founded to create innovative, high-quality products that solve engineering challenges. And the Bike Yoke Revive 3.0 Dropper Seatpost answers what is arguably the biggest problem that has plagued posts since their inception: This is easy to service on your own.
Unlike the big brand droppers, which typically use designs borrowed from rear shock technology, the Revive 3.0 features a proprietary oil-filled tube fitted with a micro-valve inside an air chamber. The configuration creates silky smooth actuation—probably the smoothest in the test. And though the possible contamination between the two is what can cause play and sagging, the Revive features a quick-access bleed valve on the side to “revive” the post. Simply loosen the 4mm hex while pushing the post down manually to force the air out, tighten, and the post and action feel as good as new. No more trips to the shop for a bleed!

Other cool innovations include the ability to switch the post lowers from 30.9mm to 31.6, so you can move the post between models when you upgrade bikes. The one-piece upper tube construction removes some of the flex inherent in other designs, and the cable-actuated Triggy Alpha Remote is both trim, light action, and has required no tweaks following the initial cable stretch. In short, this is all premium materials and construction.
If that was the end of the story, the Revive 3.0 would be the hands-down top choice. However, the air intake valve is buried underneath the saddle, meaning you must remove the seat to adjust pressure. Even more annoying, because of the one-piece machining, few shock pumps will fit into the tight space. There’s an included adapter, which works fine, but that’s just one more thing to lose. Finally, though the four sizes (125mm, 160, 185, 213) can all be reduced up to 20mm (in 5mm increments) for custom fitting, the post must be partially disassembled to insert the spacers. The advantage of the built-in bleed valve outweighs each of these niggles, but the Revive still has room for improvement.
With the Triggy Alpha Remote and Remote Adapter, the Revive costs $420-$430 out the door.

Bike Yoke Revive 3.0 Dropper PostBottom Line: The top-shelf build and quality manufacturing are impressive. But it’s the self-service bleed valve that sets this apart. The Revive should be the choice for anyone skeptical of dropper post durability and service. Shop Revive 3.0 Dropper Post |
