Ten years of proven performance, refined into one collection. Eagle S-Series brings you the best of SRAM's legendary Eagle drivetrain technology in a simplified lineup that makes upgrading easy. Proven on trails worldwide and trusted by riders from first-timers to World Champions, Eagle S-Series delivers the wide-range performance and reliability you need at a price that makes sense.
To simplify riders' decisions, SRAM has created three lines within the Eagle S-Series: Eagle S100, Eagle S200, and Eagle S500. These consolidate and build upon Eagle and Eagle AXS products into purpose-crafted, quality components with the right benefits for every rider.
Get everything you need and nothing you don't. From its modernized derailleur to the rebuildable cassette, every S100 component is engineered to maximize value and robustness. Wide-range shifting, E-MTB ready, and built to last.
Replaces: SX Eagle · NX Eagle
Meet the new mechanical standard. As the workhorse of the S-Series, the S200 collection delivers consistent performance ride after ride. With a focus on long-term reliability, it provides a high-performance upgrade ready for any trail.
Replaces: GX · X01 · XX1 Eagle Mechanical
The S500 delivers World Championship-winning performance to any build. Crafted with premium materials and exclusive finishes, it brings the precision of AXS wireless technology to riders who demand elite performance.
Replaces: Eagle AXS Groupsets
Maximum value meets extreme durability: the S100 series is your E-MTB ready entry point to reliable, wide-range Eagle performance.
The new mechanical standard: S200 is the high-performance workhorse of the S-Series, built for consistent reliability on any trail.
The flagship of Eagle performance: S500 combines premium materials and exclusive finishes with the elite precision of AXS wireless technology.
The Eagle S-Series consolidates nine previous Eagle drivetrains into three tiers. The S100 replaces SX and NX Eagle. The S200 replaces GX, X01, and XX1 mechanical Eagle. The S500 AXS replaces all Eagle AXS electronic groupsets (X1, GX, X01, and XX1 AXS).
Yes, all three S-Series tiers are backwards compatible with existing SX, NX, GX, X01, and XX1 Eagle 12-speed components, so you can mix and match or upgrade piece by piece. One important exception: S-Series is not compatible with SRAM Transmission (T-Type), as those systems use different pull ratios and architectures. Also note that S100 derailleurs support cassettes up to 50T max, while S200 and S500 support up to 52T.
The UDH Half Mount is an optional $10 reinforcing plate exclusive to the Eagle S100 derailleur. It integrates with the UDH (Universal Derailleur Hanger) bolt on your frame to provide extra protection against side impacts, knocks, and slams — something particularly valuable on E-MTBs where added system weight can cause more damage in a fall. It's not required to run the S100 derailleur, but it's a worthwhile upgrade if your frame supports it. Note that it only works on frames with a Hangerless Interface (UDH) — it is not compatible with standard derailleur hangers.
Think of the three tiers as good, better, and best. The S100 is your entry point: durable, reliable, E-MTB ready, and mechanical — giving you everything you need and nothing you don't. The S200 steps up to a Type 3 clutch, a larger 520% gear range (vs. 500% on S100), lighter weight, and Matchmaker X shifter compatibility — the best of Eagle mechanical in one collection. The S500 is the flagship, adding fully wireless AXS electronic shifting, an Overload Clutch that self-protects on impact, water and dust sealing, and premium Rainbow or Gold colorway options on the chain and cassette. It also pairs with road eTap drop-bar shifters for gravel builds.
Yes! The S500 Eagle AXS Upgrade Kit is specifically for this purpose. It includes everything needed to go wireless (the S500 AXS rear derailleur with protector, AXS battery, AXS POD Controller with discrete clamp, Eagle Powerlock, USB-C charger, and chain gap tool) without requiring you to replace your cassette, crankset, or chain if they're already Eagle-compatible components.
