Specifically designed for rear wheel use, Continental's Kryptotal Rear tire is an all-around tread that offers a perfect balance between stability, traction for braking, and rolling resistance. It's an ideal choice for those who love pushing their limits on mixed terrain trails, enduro, or downhill gravity riding.
The New Compounds
The Kryptotal Rear Mountain Bike Tire comes in three different compound options to suit every riding style. The SuperSoft compound is Continental's softest and grippiest option, ideal for downhill and enduro riders who demand maximum grip and control. The Soft compound strikes a balance between grip and rolling resistance, making it a great choice for gravity-focused rides. The Endurance compound is designed to offer a high level of durability and good rolling resistance and grip, making it a versatile option for trail riders and e-bikes.
The New Casing
The Kryptotal Rear Mountain Bike Tire also features a casing construction tailored to different riding styles. The Downhill option is the most durable and reinforced carcass in the gravity lineup, while the Enduro casing is a durable single-ply construction with Apex to prevent snakebites. The Trail option offers comparable performance to the Enduro casing but is tailored specifically for trail use cases.
Continental's new mountain bike tire lineup is Tubeless Ready, with a robust carcass construction that is impervious to damage and penetration from foreign objects. This technology allows for versatility, low weight, and an attractive design.
The Kryptotal Mountain Bike Tires are suitable for use with e-bikes, and Continental draws on over 100 years of experience with moped and motorcycle tires to ensure their city and trekking tires are rated to a standard speed of at least 25 km/h.
Choose Kryptotal Rear for an unparalleled riding experience that takes your riding to the next level. Pair your bike up with a matching Kryptotal Front tire, and don't forget to grab some Tire Sealant for optimal performance.

Some additional details about this do-everything tire with exceptional hook-up and grip. It IS a bear to get on a rim- not the hardest tire I've ever put on, but up there. Also, as to the question of weight (trail enduro casing rear), did about 4100' of climbing in the Blue Ridge on it one day and never noticed any noticeable weight issues (prior tire was a Nobby Nic). Same on two other days of 2000' plus of climbing. Only had it spin on a tech climb on me one time in three days of Blue ridge riding, on damp timbers, and even then I was able to get a second pedal stroke in - which I never got to do on prior tire at same spot when damp. Great tire, I'm sold. ready to try one up front.
Two rides in jury is still out on the new Continental Kryptotal. Very aggressive mobs and seems to roll dads. Weight was apparent on uphills. Downhills confident and fast.
Feel like the future is bright.
This is an amazing rear tire. Exactly the same performance as a Maxxis DHRII, but requires less money to spend. If you ride DHRII’s or Aggressor’s, you might want to try this tire. I have made the switch.
