Great price, good cranks. Needs a special tool.
Can't beat the price and quality on SLX.
As a return customer to TMB, Ian, as usual, very helpful and offered his expertise/guidance on the proper cranks on my enduro build. I wanted 165mm length and he recommended 7120 model for the ideal chainline for my Boost frame. Fits perfectly and feels great! I wasn't very particular to drivetrain brands before, now prefer Shimano!
I'm 5'6" and wanted to swap my 170mm Deore cranks for 165mm, and these SLX fit the bill as I couldn't find Deore in 165mm. I definitely experience fewer pedal strikes with 5mm shorter cranks, and SLX is a notch higher in Shimano's lineup than Deore, which usually translates into lower weight.
I called to verify fitment before ordering, and spoke with an actual human. Very friendly service and super fast shipping. I'll definitely be a returning customer.
Being new to mountain biking, i quickly became an expert in shimano crank arms and drivetrain nomenclature when trying to order the correct model for my bike in the length of crank arm i desired. I went from 175mm to 165mm. Found what I needed at thunder mountain. They shipped quickly all the way across the U.S. Parts went right on like i was making a youtube how to video. Now i don't strike my pedals where i used to. Think 10mm difference is very noticeable on the clearance it provides. Not sure i would waste my time on anything less if you're looking to change the length of your crank arms.
